1. Federation Features
For server to server federated features we rely on connectivity
to Autodiscover, EWS, and OAuth endpoints between on-
premises and Exchange Online. This can be over Express Route
or traditional connections
2. Mail Flow*
Email can come from both internal and external recipients. If
you want to allow for only Office 365 users to send mail to
each other than you can use express route (so basically this is
not happening)
3. Internal Clients
If you have internal or VPN only clients, Express route will be
fine.
External Mobile: If you have ActiveSync or Outlook Mobile apps in use
externally, Express Route cannot be use for Autodiscover or ActiveSync
External Outlook: If you use Outlook externally, Express Route cannot
be use for Autodiscover, Outlook Anywhere, or MapiHTTP endpoints
External Public Folder or Shared Mailbox: If you use
Outlook externally and access Public Folders or Shared Mailboxes, Express Route
cannot be use for Autodiscover, Outlook Anywhere, or MapiHTTP endpoints
External OWA: If you use OWA externally, you cannot use Express Route
for the OWA endpoint
